LOST "Orientation" Air Date: Oct. 5, 2005

We learned so much so fast last night, but, as I expected, I still have a ton of unanswered questions. That's what makes this such a great show. I don't think I have ever been "into" any TV show like I am into LOST... well, there was that time when I was 8 and I ordered one of those books at the school book fair that gave me John Schneider's mailing address for "Dukes of Hazzard" fan mail. I never got a letter back. Maybe it was that snub kept me from ever really "falling" for another show until now... and NOW I'm rambling.

I am sort of torn and I know I need to choose one way or the other. Part of me is with Jack in that I feel that "the button" doesn't do anything. It is just a strange experiement to see who could who would actually stay in the hatch and follow orders. A sort of "mouse in the maze" game. Will the mouse find the cheese, or just give up and hang out in the maze?

The other part of me wants to believe that "the button" is imperative. However, the writers gave us so much so fast last night that it leads me to believe that the hatch and the button are not going to be all that significant when all is said and done. I guess I (we for that matter) won't know anything until they decide to end the show.

What did Jack say in the Hatch? Did I hear him right?

"Because the last time I saw the computer that was going to save the world, it didn’t look like that" - Jack

What does that mean? And more importantly, what does Jack know. I have always felt that Locke knows more than he is letting on, but now, with a comment like that from Jack, I think we need to get a little deeper into his head... which I'm sure we will this season.
